Creating a stark contrast in color, material, texture and pattern is also one of the best design tricks to know when optimizing a small bedroom space design. This particular bedroom is not much more than 3 blank walls cramped together, but when each wall is emphasized as it’s own, one with a light purple paint color and the other will a leaf patterned wallpaper, the space is instantly lifted and defined. The upholstered wall panels on the middle wall also distract the eye as a special feature. With so many design elements happening in this space, it’s easy to forget about it’s size.
In addition to tricking you into thinking the space is bigger with unique wall colors and textures, the owners also used shelving strategically in this room. On the back wall, both red vases with branches are placed on shelving. This attracts the eye upwards. By lighting them up with accent lighting, it makes the wall look higher. Another trick is the shelving that runs under the windows. This small, but impactful white shelf has two different planters on it and has room for more. Lastly, there is a shelf that runs along the back wall behind the bed. This can double as a nightstand.
